JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary 

This role is responsible for the day-to-day management of our Oceania Office’s shared service business unit accounting function. Your primary objective will be to guarantee accurate and punctual financial reporting. You will play a critical role in preserving the integrity and precision of accounting data within the business unit and ensure its timely integration into the centralised accounting system. Additionally, this position entails promptly addressing information requests originating from various business units, contributing to streamlined and efficient financial operations. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining the financial health and transparency of DP World. 

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Prepare, reconcile, and consolidate monthly BAS returns for group companies, including GST, Fuel Excise, FBT, ensuring timely submissions to the ATO.
  • Assist in the preparation of the group’s annual FBT returns.
  • Collaborate on the yearly tax schedules, contributing to their accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain a track record of delivering accurate and timely statutory returns, aligning with established KPIs.
  • Co-ordinate and generate precise monthly financial reports, offering insights into the financial performance of individual operating activities.
  • Provide essential information and reports to management as required, including comprehensive variance analysis.
  • Oversee the coding of monthly payroll and the calculation of employee provisions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts, addressing discrepancies promptly.
  • Manage accounting for property and equipment leases, maintaining accurate records.
  • Administer the reconciliation of all intercompany accounts, ensuring financial accuracy and consistency.
  • Contribute to year-end accounts and audit processes, facilitating a seamless and accurate conclusion within established deadlines.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts, complying with designated deadlines and maintaining data accuracy.
  • Maintain and manage fixed asset registers, conducting monthly reconciliations with the general ledger.
  • Monitor and report on AUC (Asset Under Construction) to ensure accurate accounting and compliance with audit requirements.
  • Provide support during internal and external audits, addressing any accounting audit issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with Container Park Finance Managers as needed to support financial operations.
  • Fulfill other ad hoc duties as directed by the Manager, contributing to the efficiency of the finance department and its overall objectives.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Possess an accounting-related degree and professional accounting qualifications such as CPA or CA.
  • Preferably have prior experience in an accountant role within a global organisation, showcasing a strong understanding of complex financial environments.
  • Familiarity with Oracle and Hyperion systems is advantageous, demonstrating your ability to adapt to various financial software platforms.
  • Possess at least 2 years of post-qualification experience, reflecting a sound foundation in accounting principles and practices.
  • Exhibit a strong knowledge of accounting systems, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance.
  • Showcase proficient computer skills, particularly in Excel, for data analysis and reporting purposes.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and verbal, facilitating clear and efficient interaction with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Display the ability to work with minimal supervision and meet demanding timelines, underlining your self-driven and results-oriented approach with excellent attention to detail.
